Dedicated and beloved husband, father, and grandfather, 89, Dr. Edward Weiss of Morristown, formerly of Livingston, NJ, died peacefully at home on December 25, 2023.

Edward was born in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated with the 197th class at Central High School. He was an Eagle Scout, a varsity track athlete and an avid Phillies fan.

Upon graduating from SUNY Downstate Medical School, he opened an ophthalmology practice in West Orange, NJ, where he practiced for nearly 50 years. He served as the Chief of Ophthalmology at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. He loved being a physician and caring for his patients.

If he and his wife Phyllis were not traveling, he could be found playing tennis at Orange Lawn Tennis Club, where he served on the Board of Governors. Edward prioritized and cherished the time spent with family; especially playing games, and sharing puns. He taught by example, both in practical learning and in his role as a son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, his daughters Kara and Melissa, his grandchildren Jeffrey, Alison, William, Oliver, Annabel and Coco, his brother Larry, and many other family and friends.

Judaism and Zionism were integral to Edward’s identity. In his honor, the family has requested any tributes be made to Jewish Federation Greater Metrowest (GMW) Emergency Fund for Israel.

Services were held on Friday, December 29 at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston, NJ.
