Statewide Fire Restrictions are Lifted

Statewide Fire Restrictions are Lifted

Following substantial rainfall on Wednesday night, November 20, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service has lifted fire restrictions statewide. More rain is expected on Thanksgiving Day, which would continue to help ameloriate the dry conditions that have led to the fire restrictions.

Although those restrictions have officially been lifted, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service asks thatresidents of the state do not become complacent and continue to be careful when using fire.

Due to the recent precipitation, the wildfires that burned over 200 acres in Livingston have been fully contained.

It has been almost two months since there was measurable rain in Livingston, which resulted in a major wild fire, various “red alerts,” and drought warnings. On Thursday, November 21, a significant rain storm finally touched Livingston. Shown here, the rain storm caused reduced visibility on Eisenhower Parkway. Jerry Siskind Photo
