This past weekend, the Livingston Comittee for Diversity and Inclusion (LCDI) took part in the second annual Crescent Moon Lighting for Ramadan, held at the gazebo on the Oval. In collaboration with Livingston’s Muslim community and the High School Muslim Student Association, this event provided an opportunity for residents of all backgrounds to come together, share in the spirit of Ramadan, and build understanding and respect for one another’s traditions.
“The LCDI is committed to ensuring that every member of the community feels heard, valued, and included,” said LCDI co-chair Harshavardhan Raju. “With a mission to support and celebrate all the diverse communities that call Livingston home, the LCDI aims to create an environment where everyone can thrive.” Through a variety of events and initiatives, it strives to represent and celebrate the different cultures and backgrounds that make our town unique.
“Celebrating these cultural milestones is vital to creating a more inclusive and integrated community,” said Raju. “When the LCDI embraces the traditions, stories, and histories of all its neighbors, it fosters an environment where everyone feels supported and valued. It is through these shared experiences that the LCDI strengthens its bonds and build a future that reflects the true diversity of Livingston.”
