Lacrosse Team Retains Border Cup

On Thursday, May 1, the Livingston High School girls’ varsity lacrosse team defeated its rival, Millburn High School, in the “Border Cup” game. The Lancers won by a score of 15-12. This year’s victory was Livingston’s fourth in a row and its eighth in the series, played annually since 2010.

Senior Hannah Taub scored a game-high nine points, with four goals and five assists. Also adding multiple goals for the Lancers was senior Taylor Dzama (three goals, two assists, four draw controls); junior Casey Conklin (three goals, one assist, ten draw controls); and freshman Richelle Lederman (three goals). Rounding out the scoring for the Lancers were junior Samantha Ende and sophomore Rachel Snow, (Continued on Page A-6) each with one goal.

Sophomore goalie Taryn Dzama finished with 14 saves, while the Lancer defense, led by seniors Emily Ritz and Aryanna Lennon, Morgan Abramson, sophomore Logan Gibbs, and freshmanAbi Quillen, helped hold off a late game charge by the Millers’ offense.

The Lancers’ record currently stands at 4-4 as the team heads into the Essex County Tournament.
