River Clean Up
River Clean Up
Next month, the Livingston Trails and Greenways committee will host two Passaic River cleanups on Saturday, April 1, and Saturday, April 22. The first of the year was held on March 18, and there are several more planned throughout the spring. These cleanups, which the committee holds periodically on weekends in spring through fall, offer residents a fun opportunity to get to know a slice of Livingston about which many people are unaware. It is also a necessary task to keep the waters pristine for animals and humans alike. 03/30/2023 05:00 AM
License Plate Readers
License Plate Readers
Earlier this month, the Township Council approved a $170,000 contract with Gold Type Business Machines for the purchase of license plate reader cameras (LPRs). These cameras will be installed at specific thruways leading out of Livingston, in an effort to help combat the rash of car thefts that have occurred in town in recent years. Auto theft is certainly an issue, with over 100 cars stolen in Livingston in the past three years (and it must be noted that most, but not all, of them were unlocked with the key fobs left in them). 03/30/2023 05:00 AM

Different Ways To Volunteer
Flip through the pages of the last few editions of the Tribune, particularly the March 2 issue that was delivered to everyone in town, and you will see countless examples of residents taking up a cause. Volunteerism can take many forms, several of which have been on display this past month in Livingston. 03/16/2023 05:00 AM

Theater Performances
Last weekend, we were thrilled to have four sold out live performances of “The Aristocats Kids,” a one-act show based on the Disney film, presented by the Children’s Theatre of Livingston (CTL). We were, as always, impressed with the amount and spirit of teamwork CTL achieved throughout the show, both on stage and behind it. 03/09/2023 05:00 AM

Equity In Schools
Equity In Schools
Earlier this month, during its February 7 meeting, the Livingston Public Schools (LPS) Board of Education was presented with research from students and parents on equity, inclusion, and anti-racism in the schools. Lisa Steiger, the district’s assistant superintendent for equity, noted that district officials are working to build equity and inclusion through four main components: community and culture; curriculum; professional development; and student engagement. Steiger added that concerns raised by Livingston High School’s Black Student Union – that some students did not feel like they had a voice in the school – had shaped some of the changes that were presented to the Board. 02/16/2023 05:00 AM
