Council Bans E-Cigarettes in Public Places; Seeks New Water and Sewer Connection Fees

The Livingston Township Council enacted ordinances governing electronic cigarettes and sanitary sewers on Monday evening. Amending a current ordinance prohibiting smoking in township facilities, the first ordinance adds electronic cigarettes to the ban. The ordinance additionally prohibits the use of "electronic smoking devices" in all government buildings or on any township property located within 500 feet of any elementary or secondary educational institution. The amended ordinance also expands prohibited areas to include all outdoor public parks and recreational areas that are owned, leased, or used by the township. Councilman Rudy Fernandez noted that the ordinance will stay relevant as the town's open space expands now and in the future.   To view more please log in or subscribe to the digital edition ...
