Joseph DeSantis

Former Livingston resident Joseph Nicholas DeSantis died Tuesday, August 26, at his home in West Caldwell. He was 87 years old. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for him on Saturday, August 30, at St. Joseph Church in West Orange. Mr. DeSantis was graduated from Orange High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Upsala College, and an M.B.A. from Seton Hall University. Mr. DeSantis was first employed as a chemist for Merck. He continued his career in the pharmaceutical industry, and was the marketing director of Case-Hoyt Corporation before his retirement. He had served in the U.S. Marines. A member of UNICO and the Knights of Columbus, Mr. DeSantis served as Livingston Little League baseball coach for his sons. Predeceased by his wives, Marie DeSantis and Anne Rapicano De-Santis and his sons, Michael A. and Joseph M. DeSantis, he is survived by his children, Linda DeSantis; Cathy Sullivan and her husband, Tom; and Michael A. DeSantis and his partner, Angelo Barla. He is also survived b four grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. The family has noted that donations may be made in Mr. DeSantis' memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
