John L. 'Jack' Cannon Dies in Long Valley

John L. "Jack" Cannon died at his Long Valley home on Thursday, October 9. He was 79 years old. He was born in Livingston on September 16, 1935 and lived in Chester before moving to Long Valley. Mr. Cannon, who served in the US Army, was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers 825 in Springfi eld for more than 40 years. A member of the American Legion Post 342 in Chester, he was an exempt member of the Chester Fire Department. Mr. Cannon was a member of the American Veterans Association of Washington Township. He was also a member of the NRA and belonged to the Shongum Sportsmen's Association. In addition, Mr. Cannon served as a eucharistic minister at Our Lady of the Mountain Church in Long Valley. Surviving are his wife, Mary Catherine Cannon; five daughters, Elizabeth Cabarle and husband, Thomas; Barbara Harding and husband, David; and Kelly Brown and husband, Christopher, all of Long Valley; Maureen Trember and husband, Wayne, of Flanders; and Jennifer Owen and husband, Nathan, of Fairfax, Virginia. He is also survived by ten grandchildren.
