Funeral Services for Veteran Firefighter Stan Beck

Funeral services for veteran firefighter Stanley Beck were held yesterday, Wednesday, December 3, at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Funeral Chapel in Livingston. Mr. Beck died at the age of 89 on Sunday, November 30, after a long illness. A Naval veteran, Mr. Beck was the owner of Stan Beck's Florham Park Pharmacy. He was a member of the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department for 59 years and also served as a volunteer on the Livingston First Aid Squad. In addition, he was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the Valerie Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Mr. Beck was also a 60 year member of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston. Predeceased by his wife, Jean, in 2010, he is survived by his children, Steven, Jed, Jim and Toni, and their spouses; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Burton. "Stan had served this Department and the Township of Livingston as an 'active' firefighter for 59 years before he chose to become a Life Member in March of 2012," said Fire Chief Chris Mullin. "Stan held the positions of Warden, Lieutenant, and Captain as well as Secretary of our Relief Association," the Chief added.
