Offer Funeral Services For William Flanagan

William Fintan Flanagan, 81, of Livingston died on December 22. The Funeral Mass celebrating his life was offered at St. Raphael's Church on Saturday, December 27. Born and raised in Newark, Mr. Flanagan was a retired captain of the Essex County Sheriff's Department, where he founded the K-9 unit and was frequently awarded the status of distinguished pistol expert. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 - 1957. Mr. Flanagan is survived by his daughter, Denise Flanagan; his brothers, Tom and Roger Flanagan; and many grandchildren. His wife of 43 years, Josephine Moschella, predeceased him in 1999. The family has suggested that memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org, or to the New Jersey Fraternal Order of Police, 108 West State Street, Trenton, NJ 08608. ...
