Thomas P. Freda “Dickie,” 79, of Livingston, died on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services were held under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home of Roseland. A Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Roseland. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.farmerfuneral.com. Thomas was born in Orange, raised in West Orange, married, moved to Orange for a few years, and settled in Livingston in 1966. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. For many years, he ran Freda’s Produce Stand in Orange. In his 40s, he graduated, cum laude, from Bloomfield College and went on to be an industrial salesman for Madsen & Howell in Perth Amboy. Thomas was a member of AARP Livingston Chapter #3663 and the Old Guard in Livingston; and was a long-time active parishioner of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. In his spare time, he was known to be a sports enthusiast and a food connoisseur. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Rosemary (Cantore) Freda; his devoted children, Thomas J. Freda; Rosemary Ludwig and her husband, Brian; and Catherine Marino and her husband, Dan; his loving grandchildren, Juliana, Sarah, Caitlin, Marisa, Pietro, Thomas, Austin, and Tommy; and his dear sisters, Marjorie Andolino and her husband, Anthony, and Carol Ann Arena and her husband, Ron.
