Wanda Spohn Hinds Dies at Age 95

Wanda Hinds died on January 6, at the age of 95. A graveside service was held in Heidlersburg, Pennsylvania where she was interred beside family members. A resident of the Cliffs at Eagle Rock in West Orange for nearly ten years, Mrs. Hinds had resided in Livingston from 1952 until 2005. She was married in 1942 to her fi rst husband, Robert Spohn, who predeceased her in 1987, and later married David Hinds who died in 2005. Mrs. Hinds was graduated from Dickinson College, class of 1941, receiving a bachelor’s degree with a major in French and minors in English and psychology. She was a librarian in the reference department at the Livingston Public Library for 22 years under director, Ruth L. Rockwood. Always an active volunteer in the community, Mrs. Hinds was a charter member of the Livingston Historical Society, a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and an avid supporter of the Livingston Community Symphony Orchestra, for which her fi rst husband played the violin. She was also a long-time member of the Federated Baptist Church of Livingston. Surviving are a son, Richard Spohn and his wife, Barbara, of Tennessee; daughters Lorie Spohn of Pennsylvania, and Marjorie Spohn Hyatt and her husband Alexander of New Jersey; four grandchildren, and fi ve greatgrandchildren. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to either the Livingston Public Library or the Salvation Army. ...
