Funeral Services For "Ros" Jacobs

Mrs. E. Rosalyn "Ros" Jacobs, 91, of Livingston died Saturday, February 21, in the Inglemoor Care Center. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 24, in the Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel of Livingston. Born in Amsterdam, New York, Mrs. Jacobs lived in Schenectady and had served as an Army nurse during World War II, caring for paraplegics. She attended Syracuse University on the G.I. Bill and met her husband, Richard M. Jacobs, who was also a student at the time. The couple lived in Newport, Rhode Island, and several other states, before moving to Livingston in 1966. A nursing supervisor at Saint Barnabas Medical Center for 25 years, Mrs. Jacobs created the Discharge Planning Unit at the hospital. Later, she was a school nurse at the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy. While in her 60s, Mrs. Jacobs earned a master's degree in public health from New Jersey City University. She was active in Hadassah, the Synagogue of the Suburban Torah Center, and Temple Beth Shalom. Predeceased by her husband, Richard M. Jacobs and her sister, Shirley Passow, Mrs. Jacobs leaves three children, George Jacobs and his wife, Rhona; Miriam Jacobs; and Robert Jacobs, and his wife, Pam; and three granddaughters. ...
