Joseph "Jurek" Sutor Dies in Livingston Home

Joseph "Jurek" Sutor died in his Livingston home on Friday, March 27 at the age of 77. Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, April 1, at the Parkway Wozniak Memorial Home in Clark, following by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Irvington. Born in Rabce, Poland, Mr. Sutor lived in Newark for 17 years before moving to Livingston 36 years ago. He was the supervisor of maintenance at the Prudential Insurance Company of Newark for 22 years. He also worked for several years as a custodial engineer for Ciba-Geigy. A long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, he was involved for many years in the Holy Name Society and was an usher and a member of the church choir. Mr. Sutor was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 6203 of South Plainfi eld. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Josephine; his children, Zig Sutor and Diane Miller; his siblings, Stanislaw Sutor, Bobby Vigeant, Wladyslawa Ksiezopolski, and Ceslowa Biesiadecki; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by three of his siblings, Bronislaw, Krystyna, and Anna Ciszewski. The family has announced that donations in Mr. Sutor's memory may be made to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Building Fund, 537 Grove Street, Irvington, NJ 07111.
