Funeral Services For Dr. Victor Kasner

The family of Dr. Victor H. Kasner has announced that he died on March 13 at the age of 83. Services with military honors were conducted on Sunday, March 15, at Beth El Cemetery, Paramus. Born in Manhattan, he was raised in Brooklyn, New York and resided in Livingston before moving to Wellington, Florida. A graduate of Brooklyn College, and N.Y.U. Dental School, Dr. Kasner enlisted in the Air Force after dental school graduation and served from 1958 to 1960 as Captain in the Project Mercury- Astronaut program. He opened a dental practice in West Orange and was president of the Essex County Dental Society as well as the Alpha Omega Dental fraternity. A Fellow of the American College of Dentistry, Dr. Kasner was also a founder of Hadassah Dental School, Israel. For 25 years he was a clinical professor of periodontics and implantology at N.Y.U. In addition, he created the Dental Department at Saint Barnabas Medical Center when it opened in Livingston in 1964, also designing a portable dental unit for patients who were bedridden. He was chairman of the Periodontics Department at Saint Barnabas and member of the Medical Board. Dr. Kasner, a member of Atlantis Yacht Club, Maplewood Country Club, and Wycliffe Country Club, also served many civic organizations. He was president of West Orange B’nai Brith, and chairman of UJA Dental Division. He was listed in Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in Jewry. Dr. Kasner also appeared on N.J. Network television hosted by Marjorie Margolis discussing various disciplines of dentistry. In addition, Dr. Kasner was a member of the Advisory Council of Maplewood Bank, chairman of the advisory committee of Summit Bank, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Temple Beth Shalom. Dr. Kasner is survived by wife of 61 years, Martha; a son, David and his wife, Renee of Boca Raton; twin daughters, Robin and Lisa and their husbands, Philip and Steven of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren. ...
