Melchiore Rizzuto Dies at Home, Age 90

Melchiore "Mel" Rizzuto died in his Livingston home on Tuesday, May 5. He was 90 years old. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 11, at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, followed by a blessing service, and then a committal service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Mr. Rizzuto was a resident of Livingston for more than 50 years. He taught at Delbarton School in Mendham for several years, and had a guitar studio, where he taught many residents of Livingston. He also published a guitar instruction book under the Mel Richard Method to teach young learners. A graduate of Chatham High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Rizzuto is survived by his wife, Dolores; his daughters and sons-inlaw, Pat and Frank Tacheco of West Orange, and Rita and Paul Stevenson of Pompano Beach, Florida; and three grandchildren.
