Frederick Wyeth Hock, 90, of Long Branch, formerly of Roseland and Livingston, died Tuesday May 12 at the Monmouth Medical Center. Mr. Hock was born in Newark and raised in East Orange. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1946 and entered the V12 program at Princeton University, where he was promoted to Lieutenant. He served in the Pacific Theatre and took part in the campaign at Iwo Jima. Mr. Hock, who received his BA, LLB and JD degrees from Rutgers University, was admitted to the New Jersey Bar and was a practicing attorney for more than 50 years, specializing in wills, trusts and estates. In addition, Mr. Hock was a municipal court judge for three years in East Orange. He also served on the Board of Trustees of many institutions, including House of Good Shepherd; Community Day Nursery of the Oranges-Maplewood; Founders Endowment Fund of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, Ny Beta Chapter; Essex County Chapter of the American Red Cross; VFW Post 5445-Post Advocate; Northwestern N.J. Estate Planning Council; and the Advisory Councils of both Maplewood Bank and Summit Bank. In addition, he served on the Juvenile Conference Committee, City of East Orange; Essex County Chapter National College Football Hall of Fame; Essex County Chapter of the United Community Fund; Congregational Church of the City of East Orange; and the Livingston Olivet Church. Mr. Hock was also a member of the Marina Bay Club Trustees, Long Branch and the Long Branch Old Guard, as well as being listed in the Marquis Who’s Who. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Ellen Mink Hock; three daughters, Carolyn Fay, Rhonda Downing and Sandra Van Fossen; step-children Daniel Weidner, Christopher Weidner and Carolyn Turanick; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
