Funeral Services For Doris Adamus

Doris Dawson Adamus, 94, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, died on May 11, one day after Mother's Day. A funeral service was held Friday, May 15, at the Pearson Funeral Home in Bethlehem. Mrs. Adamus was born in Spring Valley, New York on April 7, 1921, to the late Emma and John Dawson. In 1924, she and her family moved to Livingston, where she resided until 2004. Following graduation from West Orange High School in 1939, she married Willard Louis Adamus in 1942, and was a homemaker, wife andmother of three. She later submitted articles for the West Essex Tribune, was employed by the Livingston Library for 20 years, attended night college classes, and worked at election poll sites in Livingston for many years. A longtime member of the former Livingston Baptist Church, Mrs. Adamus served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher, and as a member of the Women's Fellowship. Her many years of volunteer service in the community included serving as PTA president in the Livingston school district, active membership and leadership in both the Friends of the Livingston Library, and the Livingston Historical Society. Preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Willard, Mrs. Adamus is survived by two sons, Stephen Adamus (Diane) of Cedar Grove; and John Adamus (Deborah) of Madison; one daughter, Elaine Nelson (Jeff) of Bethlehem; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
