Mae Longo, 88 Dies in Livingston

Long-time Livingston resident Mae Longo died at the age of 88 on Monday, May 11. Born and raised in Orange, she resided in Livingston for the past 58 years. Mrs. Longo worked for Public Service and began her singing career as an employee of the Public Service Troupe entertaining the disabled World War II veterans in the neighboring VA hospitals. A 1974 graduate of Montclair State University, she earned a bachelor's degree in music. She was a member of St. Philomena's Church, where she sang in the choir and served as a cantor. Mrs. Longo was a member of the NJ State Opera Guild and performed at NJPAC. She also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary, the Women's Club, the Essex Board of Elections and AARP. She was the choir director of the Livingtones. Predeceased by her husband, Gerald S., as well as her nine siblings, she is survived by her son, James Gerald; daughter, Linda Longo Lang and son-in-law, John Lang; and one grandson. ...
