It's that time of year again. For the sixth year in a row, the township is conducting its annual deer management program, also known as "culling the herd." While the offi cial titles sound very unemotional, the idea of hunting down the peaceful creatures that roam our neighborhoods is an issue that can ignite passionate feelings. For those who love animals and appreciate the wildlife, the idea of killing deer can be a very sensitive issue. They are beautiful animals. Unfortunately, they are also very successful breeders that voraciously devour vegetation and carry parasites, such as ticks which can cause Lyme disease.
