The Livingston Fire Department’s annual Open House, its principal effort to educate the public about fire safety, will be held this Sunday, October 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. at its headquarters station on South Livingston Avenue. The event is held in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week. "The key message of this year's Fire Prevention Week campaign is to install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of your home, including the basement," said fire chief Christopher Mullin. Larger homes may need more alarms.
