Robert Leonard Greenhall, 82, of Margaretville, NY, died on Friday, October 30, 2015, at Mountainside Residential Care Center with his loving wife by his side. Robert, affectionately known as Bobo, is survived by his wife of 59 years Myrna; his four sons and daughters: Richard/Farrell Greenhall, Larry/Robin Greenhall, John/Cara Greenhall & Mark/Kim Greenhall; 16 grandchildren: Rachel/Matt McRoskey, Grace Greenhall/Nick Gaspari, Anna, Nathan, Hannah, Max, Zoe, Lauren, Evan, Sarah, and Jordan Greenhall, Josh and Jake Klempner; sister: Dorothy Beller; sister-in-law: Inez Fenster; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob graduated from West Orange H.S. and Brown University. He then served in the United States Navy on the USS Chukawan from 1955-1957. After an honorable discharge, he worked with his father at Greenhall Brothers, a family-owned men’s leather goods business. There, Bob successfully set up leather manufacturing plants all over the world. He was later employed by Payqueros SA, a leather manufacturing and exporting facility in Montevideo, Uruguay. He and Myrna moved from Livingston, New Jersey to Margaretville, NY in 1983. From that point, Bob became deeply involved in the Margaretville community that he adored. Bob coached little league through most of his adult life. He was a member of the Margaretville Volunteer Fire Department and served on the boards of the M-Ark Project and the Belleayre Conservatory. He was instrumental in establishing the Catskill Forest Association and continued working on their behalf for more than 30 years. Bob’s selflessness touched many people in the community and beyond. He and Myrna hosted underprivileged children through the Fresh Air Fund and found particular enjoyment in helping others as participants in various Global Volunteers international programs. He was an avid reader and supporter of the Margaretville Public Library. Bob loved the outdoors, his woods and long walks. He was also a sports enthusiast and music lover. Bob and Myrna travelled extensively throughout their marriage. He will always be remembered for his sound advice, big smile and deep laugh. There will be an outdoor memorial service to honor Bob at his home, 144 Huckleberry Hill Road, Margaretville, NY, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 7.
