Last week in this space we wrote about "Safety After the Storm." We urged residents to clear snow away from fire hydrants near their homes so that they can be easily located and accessible in the case of an emergency. One such emergency occurred this week, when on Tuesday morning fire spread through a home on Hill Street. Thankfully, residents in the area had made sure that the two hydrants that firefighters had to use that day were cleared of snow. Unfortunately, according to Livingston fire officials, the hydrants were blocked by garbage that was at the curb ready to be picked up.
