Normand Hornstein of Livingston died on Sunday, March 19, at the age of 97. Funeral arrangements were by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Hornstein spent the majority of his adult life in Queens, New York, before moving to Livingston in 1998. He was an investigator for the New York State Racing Commission. He served as a rifleman in the Army Combat Infantry Unit in the Pacific Theater during World War II, for which he received a Bronze Star. Mr. Hornstein is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sylvia Hornstein. He is also survived by his son, Harold Hornstein and his wife, Cindy; his daughter, Ellen Schwartz and her husband, Eric; and four grandchildren.
