Two items of interest came up at the Township Council’s meetings on Monday evening, including public comment about a “Fair and Welcoming” resolution for the township, as well as a discussion about the future of Livingston’s public pools. The proposal and approval of “Fair and Welcoming” resolutions is a controversial issue across the nation. This type of resolution would essentially state that the township would not voluntarily allow local police officers to be deputized to act as a branch of U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) if directed to do so by federal officials.
