Contrary to the visual that the title of this editorial may conjure up in one’s head, this piece is not about the Kiwanis Karnival. Instead, we are encouraging interested residents to consider “stepping right up” to run for the school board. One seat will be up for grabs in the November 7, 2017 election. Charles “Buddy” August, whose term expires this year, announced in a Letter to the Editor in a previous edition of the Tribune, and at a Board of Education meeting, that he plans to run again. So far he is the only person who has indicated that he will be a candidate for that seat.
