As reported in last week’s Tribune, Livingston resident Keith Hines, a well-known figure in the community, recently lost his home and has incurred major hospital bills after being diagnosed with stage-four cancer and heart issues.Noted Jeff Friedman, director of the Livingston Philanthropies and an old friend of Hines, “Because he has been suffering from cancer and heart issues, Keith has been unable to work. A Go Fund Me page has been set up by friend David Cimbol, to support him and his wife Carol at www.gofundme.com/9u7j29-help-keith-with-medical-expenses to support our 40+ year Livingston friend and philanthropist.” As an alternative to the Go Fund Me page, checks may be made out directly to Keith Hines and may be sent to him at P.O. Box 2277, Livingston, NJ 07039. Additionally, after Cimbol posted the appeal on Facebook, Livingston Neighbors Helping Neighbors, an affiliate of HCHY, has been supporting the cause and promoting it on social media as well. The organization will be involved in Keith and Carol’s support. Since Keith’s story was published, the Livingston response to help him has “been over the top,” said Friedman, who brought the story to the attention of the Tribune staff. “Livingston has really rallied to help one of its own, and I hope our residents will continue to do so,” said Friedman. “Keith, who worked at Carnevale’s, has been an active volunteer in the community for many years. He has worked hard all his life, only to now find himself catastrophically ill, broke, and without a home. After decades of helping others, now he’s the one who needs help.” Hines has said a public thank-you “for the amazing support” Livingston residents have shown him and support he has received behind the scenes. “This town is good to me,” he said. “I’m overwhelmed by the generosity of my Livingston friends. It’s life-changing. God bless.” Photo:     Shown here during better times, Keith and Carol Hines marched in Livingston’s 2013 Memorial Day Parade. Today, the two, who lost their home, are living in a motel while Keith undergoes cancer treatments. Keith’s Livingston friends are requesting contributions to his Go Fund Me page at www.gofundme.com/9u7j29-help-keith-with-medical-expenses or to P.O. Box 2277, Livingston, NJ 07039. ...
