Amtrak track work and repairs began at New York’s Penn Station this past Monday, resulting in rail service changes that are already earning the summer of 2017 the nickname “Summer of Hell” for those commuting into New York City.

The service schedule changes went into effect on July 10 and will remain in effect on weekdays only through September 1. Changes include the diversion of all M&E (Morris and Essex) Midtown Direct trains scheduled to arrive in Penn Station after 7 a.m. to Hoboken Terminal, where alternate bus, ferry and PATH service is available. Additional busing will be in place at key locations.
