Livingston Will Celebrate National Night Out

The Livingston Fire Department is a large part of Livingston’s National Night Out. Members of the Department will once again attend the community-wide event with their ladder truck, which they use to spray water on children wishing to cool off. Firefighters will also be manning the grills, cooking hot dogs. National Night Out festivities are held nationwide and are meant to increase awareness about police anti-crime programs that are taking place in communities, explains Officer Joy Klapal of the Livingston Community Policing Unit. The event promotes various crime prevention programs, including neighborhood watch groups; residential and business security surveys; and crime prevention tips. Last year, more than 37 million people in all 50 states, as well as U.S. territories, Canada and military bases worldwide, participated in National Night Out.
