Child Left in Car; Mother is Charged

While investigating a case of shoplifting at the Livington Mall on Tuesday, August 8, at approximately 2:15 p.m., a Livingston police officer came upon a vehicle that was left running in the parking lot of the shopping center. Upon investigation, the officer noticed that a child was sleeping inside the vehicle.

According to officials, it took about 30 minutes for LPD officers to gain entry into the vehicle. In the meantime, multiple attempts were made to track down the owner of the vehicle, including calling the woman’s name over the mall’s PA system and finally obtaining her phone number.
