Roger Thompson

Roger Thompson, 94, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017 at his residence in Livingston. He was born October 18, 1922 to Mabel (Martin) and Merton Thompson in Hamilton, Ohio. In 1944, he graduated from Yale with a degree in mechanical engineering. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Naval Reserve and attended Midshipmen’s School at Notre Dame University. He served on the U.S.S. Glennon. He retired from naval service in 1952 and moved to Livingston to establish Thompson Tool and Clamp Company. Roger remained in Livingston with his wife Beatrice, whom he married in 1947. He was a member of the Federated Church of Livingston, and enjoyed gardening and painting. Roger was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beatrice. He is survived by his son, Roger, and his domestic partner, Patti Buraczynski. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Tara Cogdill and her husband Nathan; Allison Fattorusso; and Jessica Thompson; his great-grandchildren, Justin, Matthew, Eric, Breanna, Emily, and Brandon; as well as his former daughter-in-law, Eileen Thompson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston. A funeral service will conclude the visitation at 3:30 p.m., with military honors following. ...
