Funeral Mass Friday For John Thomas Sules

John Thomas Sules, 87, of Weeki Wachee, Florida, a former long-time Livingston resident, died Thursday, August 10. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial in Caldwell, on Thursday and Friday, August 17 and 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass will be offered at Notre Dame Church, North Caldwell, on August 19 at 10 a.m., followed by the entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Born and raised in Newark, Mr. Sules raised his family in Livingston, where he was a resident for 34 years before retiring to Weeki Wachee in 1993. A Navy veteran, he also did a stint in semi-pro baseball. He was graduated from Montclair State Teachers’ College in 1955. He was one of the first State Farm agents in New Jersey. From there he became a manager in 1956 and ascended to the position of deputy regional vice-president for the northeast region. He retired from that position in 1992 after 37 years of service. Mr. Sules is survived by his wife of 61 years, Louise (nee Santangelo); his children, Stephen Sules and his wife, Lorraine; John Sules and his wife, Kelli; Richard T. Sules and his wife, Elizabeth; and Christopher Sules and his wife, Paula; and 13 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Mary Swauger, Rose Sules, Katherine Ramentol and Victoria Ciangio. He was also predeceased by his grandson, Stephen M. Sules.
