Funeral Services Held For Marvin Metsky

Marvin Metsky died on Thursday, December 21, at his home in Morris Plains, two weeks before his 96th birthday. Born and raised in Newark, Dr. Metsky raised his family in Livingston. After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, he was graduated from the University of Louisville. He earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from New York University in 1953. Dr. Metsky co-founded Short Hills Associates in Clinical Psychology and was a founding member of the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University. He was president of the New Jersey Psychological Association and active in the American Psychology Association. Dr. Metsky was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor Metsky (neé Ziering). and his two brothers, Seymour and Ira. He is survived by his children, Richard (Joy) Metsky and Karen (Rob) Cowen; four grandsons; and dear friend, Mimi Simpkins. A graveside service was held at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin by arrangement of Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to The Michael J.
