New Mayor Will Address League of Women Voters

Edward Meinhardt, mayor of Livingston for 2018, will address the Livingston League of Women Voters at its meeting on Wednesday evening, January 24, at 8 p.m. at the Senior/Community Center on Hillside Avenue. He will discuss his goals for the coming year. The public is invited to attend and voice questions, concerns and ideas. Meinhardt grew up in Short Hills. He was graduated from Boston University in 1986 with a BS/BA in finance. He worked in his family business, B. Meinhardt, until it was sold. Currently, he is regional director of sales at Panasphere Premium Surfaces in Los Angeles. Meinhardt has been a member of the Livingston Town Council since 2015, and was elected by the Council to serve as mayor for 2018. He was a member of the Livingston Zoning Board of Adjustment from 2013 to 2014, and chairman of the LMAC Committee from 2016 to 2017. He currently sits on a variety of town committees as a liaison. Since moving to Livingston with his family in 1999, Meinhardt has been an active member of the community, beginning with Livingston town sports. From 1999 through 2012, he coached youth soccer from Kinderkickers through eighth grade travel teams. In addition, he coached Livingston Recreation Girls’ Softball from 2000 to 2009; Livingston National Little League from 2001 to 2011; and Livingston Recreational Basketball (girls’ and boys’) from 2003 to 2015. He has been a board member of the Livingston Soccer Club since 2005, holding the following positions: Travel Committee member, 2008 to present; Livingston Soccer Club field coordinator/scheduler, 2009 to present; registrar from 2007–2010; and travel soccer manager, 2005 to 2012.  Meinhardt has attended Temple B’nai Abraham since childhood and became an active member, with his family, in 1999. He was elected to two terms as President from 2009-2013 and has also held the following positions: Board of Trustees member, 2001 to present; membership co-chairman, 2001 to 2003; assistant secretary, 2005 to 2007; vice president, 2007 to 2009; and Ritual Committee co-chairman, 2013 to present.  Meinhardt was also the 2013 Temple B’nai Abraham Gala honoree in recognition of his temple presidency . He was also among those selected by the New Jersey Jewish News for inclusion in its “40 Under 40” honors in 2003 to 2004. Meinhardt and his wife, Elena, have been married for 25 years.
