Selma Wasserman

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend Selma Wasserman passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the age of 87. Funeral services were held Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel of Livingston. Selma was born in 1930 in Brooklyn, New York and was a graduate of New York University. She lived in Lausanne, Switzerland during the early years of her marriage and then in Westfield, New Jersey for almost 50 years. Selma was a woman of multiple interests and talents, with a passion for art, textiles, selling Judaica, cooking, entertaining and world travel. She was also an active member of Temple Emanu-El of Westfield, a docent at the Jewish Museum, and a chocolate connoisseur. But, most of all, she was devoted to her family. She will be sorely missed. Selma was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Dr. Harold Wasserman, and her daughter, Donna Beth. She is survived by her sister, Arlene Schneider and her husband, Wallace, of Boynton Beach, Florida; her daughters, Lauren Wasserman of Brookline, Massachusetts, and Claudia Wasserman and her husband, Ernie Olin, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and her son, Jonathan, and his wife, Susan Wasserman, of Livingston. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Aaron Wasserman-Olin, Rebecca Wasserman-Olin, Ben Wasserman and Jack Wasserman. Those who wish to honor Selma’s memory may donate to the Lifelong Learning Fund at Temple Emanu-El in Westfield or for Alzheimer’s support at alz.org. ...
