Man Facing Assault Charge; Found with Drugs

A July 4 motor vehicle stop resulted in the hospitalization of a Newark man and the filing of numerous charges against him, including assault. At 4:09 p.m. that day, Livingston police officers stopped the driver of a motor vehicle on Eisenhower Parkway for having tinted windows and not signalling a lane change. As they approached the vehicle, they detected the odor of marijuana coming from the car. At that point, police officials recount, the driver became agitated. He refused commands to exit the vehicle and began screaming, “My life is over, you’re gonna kill me now, please shoot me, I want to die!
