Graveside Services Held for Max Berlin

Max Berlin of Pompton Plains, formerly of Livingston, died Saturday, July 14, at the age of 98. A graveside service was held Tuesday, July 17, at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge. Arrangements were handled by Menorah Chapels at Millburn. Mr. Berlin was born in Newark to the late Herman and Rose Berlin. On January 5, 1947, he married Estelle Weiner. He was a graduate of Rutgers University and a certified public accountant. He had his own practice, and worked until the age of 89. As a long-term congregant, Mr. Berlin served as treasurer at Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston. He also served as Grand Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias. Additionally, he was a World War II veteran. Mr. Berlin was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Barbara Kunz, and a sister, Jane (Berlin) Rittman. Surviving are his wife, Estelle Berlin, and his children, Susan Berlin and Stanley Slaw, and Bruce Berlin and his wife, Andrea Treese Berlin.
