Services Held Tuesday For Dr. Modlinger

Former Livingston resident Robert Modlinger, M.D., died Monday, July 23, following a long illness. He was 72 years old. Dr. Modlinger was born in Brooklyn, New York, and later resided in Manhattan and Riverdale, Livingston, and Springfield. He attended Columbia University and Cornell University Medical College and did his medical residency and fellowship in endocrinology at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Modlinger was chief of hypertension at the Veterans’ Administration Hospital in East Orange; assistant clinical professor of medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey; and chief of endocrinology at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair. He was a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Endocrinology. He did clinical research and wrote several scientific papers. He maintained private practices in endocrinology in the Caldwell and West Orange areas. He was a member of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael in Springfield and Congregation Ahavas Sholom in Newark. Predeceased by his brother, Ronald, Dr. Modlinger is survived by his wife, April; his sons, Paul and Alan; his brother, James; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 24, at Menorah Chapels in Union. The family has noted that donations in his memory may be sent to Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael and Congregation Ahavas Sholom. ...
