Robert Ehrich

Robert R. Ehrich, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Born in Newark on September 30,1925, Robert was raised in East Orange and was a long-time resident of West Orange before moving to Livingston and then to Florham Park. He was a letter carrier for the East Orange Post Office for 42 years before retiring. He was past president of the National Association of Letter Carriers, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in West Orange. He also coached girls’ basketball and boys’ baseball at St. Joseph’s School in West Orange and coached baseball at Seton Hall Prep School. He was an avid Yankee fan and participated in the Horseshoe Club in Caldwell. He proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Pillsbury while serving in the Atlantic Theater during World War II. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, Alice, of 70 years, and was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by five sons, R. Allan and his wife Win (Newton) of Whippany, David and his wife Karen (Rose) of Pennsylvania, Douglas and his wife Joan (Glass) of Texas, Christopher and his wife Denise (Cassel) of Cedar Grove and Stephen and his wife KellyAnn (McCann) of Livingston. Mr. Ehrich had ten grandchildren: Michael, Keith, Christopher, Valerie, Grace, Stephen, Jack, Griffin and Brady Ehrich, and Jessica Chiola, and was predeceased by a grandson, Liam,. He also had seven greatgrandchildren: Hailey, Madison, Ava, Ethan and Logan Ehrich, and Casey and Tyler Chiola. He was predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Douglas, and three sisters, Doris, Ursula and Agnes . Visitation was held on Monday, August 20, at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Livingston. A funeral mass was held Tuesday, August 21, at St. Joseph’s Church in West Orange. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seton Hall Preparatory School, West Orange, NJ 07052. ...
