A funeral service was held Temple Emanu-El in Westfield on Monday, November 12, for Matt Friedman. He was 47 years old. A Livingston High School alum, Mr. Friedman graduated Rutgers University with a degree in English and statistics and served as swim co-captain, He was employed at Scholastic Books for over 20 years, most recently as education editor. He is survived by his wife, Laura; their children, Lilly and Aaron; his parents, Norm and Gloria Friedman; his sister, Laurie Harelick (Matthew), his parents-in-law, Kass Freeman (Bill) and David Morin (Pat); and his sister-in-law, Jen Schlegel.
