Grace Monaghan

Grace Monaghan, formerly of Livingston, passed away on December 9, 2018. She died peacefully as a resident of Seabrook Extended Care Facility in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, one week short of her 101st birthday. She is survived by five sons: Dennis of Raquette Lake, New York and Sebastian, Florida; Jay of Manasquan, New Jersey; Patrick of Houston,Texas; Joseph ofToms River, New Jersey; and Thomas of Landenberg, Pennsylvania. Her son William, formerly of West Orange, passed away in 2001. Grace leaves behind seven grandchildren and five-great grandchildren and one on the way. In addition to her sons, Grace also leaves daughters-in-law Mary, Gwen, Maryann and Patti. Grace graduated from St. Vincent's Academy in 1935. She and Jim were married in 1940 and resided in Belleville before moving to Livingston in 1952. They were active in the St. Philomena's parish where Grace frequently sang at weddings and church functions.As a team, Grace and Jim produced local musical theatre presentations for a number of years, with annual performances at the high school. Jim was transferred by DuPont to Wilmington, Delaware prior to retirement and they spent several years in Newark, Delaware before heading to Siesta Key, Florida, where they enjoyed beachfront living prior to Jim's passing in 1996. Grace became a resident of Seabrook in 2005. There will be no funeral service at this time. A celebration of Grace's life will be planned for the near future.
