Jeff Friedman, founder and director of Livingston Philanthropies, Inc. (LPI), invites readers to meet Mimi. “I know Mimi and her mom, Zima, from the Bessie Green Community Soup Kitchen in Newark, one of our partner agencies,” says Friedman. “Mimi is just one of many young children living on the streets, in shelters, or below the poverty line. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Mimi’s image is emblematic of the complex nature of extreme poverty and why I am, on behalf of LPI, respectfully requesting contributions for a badly-needed vehicle.” LPI is currently raising funds for a van or truck that will enable the charity to continue its current level of service to the homeless community, and position it for future expansion and growth. Donations may be made online at paypal.me/lpinj or by sending a check LPI, P.O. Box 247, Livingston, NJ 07039. “Please send me an email at njhomeless@aol.com if I can provide further information or discussion,” Friedman adds. “Thank you, Livingston!”
