James A. Moore, 88, of Livingston, NJ, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019. His family received relatives and friends on Monday, June 17, at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ. The Funeral Mass celebrating his life was offered at St. Philomena’s Church, 386 South Livingston Avenue, Livingston, on Tuesday, followed by the committal services at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. James was born and raised in Greenwich, CT but moved to East Orange, NJ in his teens with his parents, Edward and Meta Moore. After graduating from Seton Hall Prep School in 1949, he went on to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. In 1961 he founded and became president of J. Moore & Co, a mechanical contracting firm that continues to this day. He was a past president of the Mechanical Contractors Association of New Jersey. In 1995 James was appointed by Governor ChristineWhitman to the New Jersey State Board of Master Plumbers, for which he served for a decade. He also belonged to numerous civic organizations in Livingston, including being Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #20. He was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn H. Moore; the loving father of Kirk and his wife, Elizabeth; Mark and his wife, Sharon; Glenn and his wife, Kristie; and Daniel; the cherished grandfather of Patrick and his wife, Catherine; Matthew and his wife, Sarah; and Caitlin; and dear brother of the late Edward. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston First Aid Squad, 62 South Livingston Avenue, Livingston, NJ 07039. ...
