Visitation this Friday For William Scheel Jr.

Former Livingston resident William J. Scheel Jr., 82, died Saturday, July 6, at Foothill Acres Nursing Center in Hillsborough. Mr. Scheel was born March 16, 1937, in Orange to William and Mary (Mohr) Scheel. He grew up in Livingston, and graduated high school from Grover Cleveland in Caldwell(whereLivingstonthensent its students) in 1955. He joined the UnitedStatesArmyshortlythereafter, and served three years in Germany, then three years stateside in the Army Reserve. He married Neal Ann Lauterbach in 1960 in Livingston. The couple lived in West Orange; moved to Parsippany in 1962; relocated to Edgewater Park in 1973, and lived there for 29 years. Mr. Scheel drove trucks for Highway Freight and Baer Concrete in Roseland. He then began a long career as a warehouseman, and later warehouse manager, in the building materialsindustryforGeorgia-Pacific in Clifton and Yardville, and later for Boise Cascade and Shea Brothers Lumber in Delanco. Mr. Scheel was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Neal Ann, in 2002; and his sisters, Jean Healey and Mary Lou Hale. He is survived by his inlaws, Jacquelyn and Walter Camuso of Hillsborough, Loren and Lorraine Lauterbach of Rockaway, and Lyle and Gail Lauterbach of West Orange; and a son, Michael. Visitation will be held this Friday, July 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hillsborough Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial donations be made to the Somerset Health Care Foundation (www.rwjbh.org/rwj-university-hospital-somerset/giving); the American Kidney Fund (www.kidneyfund.org), or a charity of one’s choice.
