Helmet Rewards Program a Success

The Livingston Police Department’s “bike helmet rewards program” this summer has been a huge success, reports the Community Policing Unit. In June, the LPD received a Traffic Safety Mini Grant of $500 from Atlantic Health Injury Prevention. State law requires any bicycle rider or passenger under the age of 17 to wear a bike helmet. The initiative, which will run through September 30, was spearheaded by Lt. Reese Riley. Officers expect to hand out all 500 of the vouchers they have. “I have heard that children are actively riding their bikes around Livingston and looking for Police Officers to give them coupons,” noted Officer Mullaney. “This is a great Community Policing initiative that further connects the public with the police.”   To read more please log in or subscribe to the digital edition http://www.etypeservices.com/West%20Essex%20TribuneID480/ ...
