John G. Silano

John G. Silano, 89, of Chatham, New Jersey, formerly of Livingston, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019. His family will receive relatives and friends for visitation on Friday, November 8 from 11 a.m. to noon at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 234 Southern Boulevard, Chatham, New Jersey. The Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held immediately afterwards at noon, followed by the committal services at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, New Jersey. Born in Tuckahoe, New York, to Elena and Giovani Silano, John served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. John was a very proud veteran and a fine man with a lot of wisdom. John was a buyer for FosterWheeler for the duration of his career. He enjoyed playing golf with our mom and many business associates. John enjoyed vacationing in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Boca Raton, Florida, later going to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. John was a devoted husband of 63 years to the late Thelma C. Silano. John was also a devoted Catholic and usher at St. Philomena Church in Livingston. He was predeceased by his siblings, Paul, Sal, Lou, and Mary. He is survived by his loving children, John Silano and his wife, Jamie Johnston Silano; Carol Morris and her husband, Wayne; and Elena Keegan and her husband, Kevin; his cherished grandchildren, Robert and James Silano, Lexi Morris, and Kelly and Kevin Keegan; and his dear sister, Helen MacLarty and her husband, Frank and sister, Philomena and the late Victor DePaul. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Livingston, New Jersey. ...
