James F. Molloy

James F. Molloy, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at the Inglemoor Rehabilitation and Care Center in Livingston, surrounded by family members. He was born on October 21, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, to James F. and Mary (Kennington) Molloy, and attended Brooklyn Tech High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1948, served in the Korean War with the 1st Marine Division, and was awarded the Bronze Star for action at the Chosin Reservoir campaign in November of 1950. On May 9, 1953, he married Dorothy Jean Russell. Together they had four sons and resided in Livingston. Jim worked for more than 35 years for the Public Service Electric and Gas Company, ultimately as a senior construction supervisor. His special interests and hobbies included raising his four boys, freshwater fishing, cooking, and 4 p.m. (sharp) martinis. He also was an avid baseball fan (Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Yankees). He was preceded in death by ‘Dotty’, his beloved wife of 58 years, and is survived by his brother, John (Kathy) Molloy and sons, Chris (Laureen MacEachern), Russ (Cathleen Shea), Rick (Wendy Chivian), and Ron (Patty). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Meaghan, Anne, Kristen (Sean Coit), Caroline (Bryan Dau), Kelly, Danny, Matthew, Katie (Alex)Whiteman, Sean (Caroline), Colin, and Emma; and three greatgrandchildren: Ella and Declan Whiteman and Jack Dau. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston, on Friday, December 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Philomena Church, 386 South Livingston Ave, Livingston, on Saturday, December 7 at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Semper Fi Fund (https://semperfifund.org/) for wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of the U.S.Armed Forces and their families would be greatly appreciated. ...
