Arthur E. Knutsen, 95, of West Caldwell, New Jersey, formerly of Livingston, New Jersey, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020. Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, and raised in Brooklyn, New York, by Elsie and Sigvart Knutsen, Arthur would go on to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. Arthur was a member of theVFW, the American Legion, the Disabled Veterans, and the Old Guard of Caldwell. He was a Diesel mechanic for Cummins for 33 years, retiring in 1990. He lived in Livingston for 41 years before moving to Crane’s Mill in West Caldwell in 2003, where he would lend his services to various committees. Arthur was active in the Grace Lutheran Church community as well, serving as its head deacon. Arthur was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Janet Knutsen, and his dear sister, Lillian Boberg. Avisitation was held at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, New Jersey, on Tuesday, February 11. The funeral service was held at Grace Lutheran Church, 304 South Livingston Avenue, Livingston, New Jersey, on Wednesday, February 12. Interment was private and took place at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, New Jersey.
