Police Warn Of Bear Sightings

The Livingston Police Department is warning residents to be cautious following reports of black bear sightings in the township. “The black bear of New Jersey has continued to adapt to living closer in proximity to people and human development,” the police department wrote on Facebook. “They are learning to take advantage of human derived food sources. We have come to learn over the last couple of years that Livingston is currently home to the black bear. We want to assure the residents of Livingston that the police department has a close working relationship with the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife, and in that capacity, we receive updates on the current policies and procedures concerning the enforcement and protection of both people and the animals. “At the direction of the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife, our current policy when we receive a call of a bear sighting is to monitor the movement of the bear. We monitor the movement of the bear through your continued and updated calls.”     To read more please log in or subscribe to the digital edition http://www.etypeservices.com/West%20Essex%20TribuneID480/   ...
