Harry Neugold III

Harry Neugold III, 58, passed away at New York Presbyterian Hospital, New York, New York, on January 3, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was the youngest of five children born in Livingston, New Jersey, to Harry Neugold Jr. and Jean Bishop Neugold. Harry graduated from Livingston High School in 1980 and was inducted into the “Big L Club” Hall of Fame in 2012 for his outstanding achievements as a football player and wrestler. He maintained lifelong bonds with the friends he made in high school, and took great joy in playing volleyball and softball with them for over 30 years after graduating. Harry began college at Kutztown University, Pennsylvania, where he continued his athletic career playing football and wrestling. He later transferred to Seton Hall University, where he earned the title of Catholic National Champion as a wrestler. It was there he met Teri Voltarelli, whom he married in 1989. Harry and Teri lived in Totowa for a short time before moving to Fairfield, where they raised their three children. Harry worked at UPS for 23 years in the Information Technology Department before starting a career in financial planning and advising. Harry was actively involved in all aspects of his children’s lives, taking special pride in coaching each of them in various sports. He enjoyed hosting parties and cooking for holidays and other special occasions. His love for bringing people together also led him to become ordained as a wedding officiant, which allowed him to perform ceremonies for friends and family. Harry will always be remembered for his big heart and the kindness and respect with which he treated everyone he met. He had a unique ability to make those around him feel supported and cared for, and took a genuine interest in everything his loved ones were passionate about. His strength and ability to find joy even in the most difficult of times will continue to serve as an inspiration for all those who loved him. Harry is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Teri; his loving children, Cassandra, Harry IV, and Rebecca; and four sisters, Sue Ann Neugold, Dorothy Neugold, Katherine Scheer, and Elizabeth Halbach, as well as the many other members ofhis extended family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Donate Life America. The funeral was held at QuinnHopping Funeral Home of Livingston, on Sunday, January 10. Cremation will be private. ...
